The Bexar County Medical Society honors Dr. Whitney McCarthy with its 2022 Women Leaders in Medicine Award. The award is given annually to recognize the work, effort, and dedication of female physicians serving Bexar County (Texas).

Three other CPA pathologists, Dr. Jennifer Rushton, Dr. Grace Jackson, and Dr. Nancy Banks, are previous award recipients.

Dr. McCarthy has been with Clinical Pathology Associates since 2018. She is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology. Her primary service location is North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where she also completed her residency. She completed a fellowship in cytopathology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and in gynecologic pathology, breast pathology, and gynecologic pathology at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
