Renal Pathology

Service Overview

Director of Service – Jeffrey Herbert, M.D.

Our nephropathology service provides accurate, timely diagnosis of both native and transplant kidney biopsies.  Our team of board-certified pathologists brings years of experience in medical renal biopsy interpretation.  Light microscopy, immunofluorescence, and electron microscopy are utilized in each case to arrive at the most precise diagnosis possible.  Ancillary histochemical and immunohistochemical stains are also performed as needed.  Preliminary results based on light microscopy and immunofluorescence are typically discussed by telephone with the patient’s medical provider the day following biopsy.  Consultative opinions are available upon request.
